Our members have joined forces to create a series of Queenstown team building programmes ideal for leisure and corporate groups of up to 150. These excamples can be adapted to suit your group size and budget.

Full Day 1

The Wakatipu Collection Team Building Sample One
Full day event for groups of 6 to 30 pax. Group remains together throughout.

This is an full day of action, teamwork, sightseeing, motivation and relaxation in the rugged beauty of Central Otago, just an hour from Queenstown. Delegates will be challenged, entertained and thrilled, returning to Queenstown recharged and ready to tackle new challenges.

Arrive Goldfields Mining Centre, Kawarau Gorge

You vs Wild survival training with Peter Hitchman, Queenstown’s answer to Bear Grylls. The historic relics and rugged terrain of Goldfields provide the perfect backdrop for this interactive adventure walk that focuses on teamwork. Delegates will learn techniques for surviving in the wild, such as navigation, lighting fires, how to recognise safe plants to eat, how to trap fish and how to keep warm.

Morning tea at Goldfields followed by motivational presentation by renowned New Zealand multi-sporter Steve Gurney. Steve describes his methods for achieving goals and shares inside stories from his wins, adventures, crashes and hospital visits. Delegates will learn from his tips to apply resilience and mental excellence to their everyday lives.

Optional add-on: Skeet shooting at moving clay targets

Board Goldfields Jet boats for an exhilarating ride with spins and turns through the churning blue waters of the mighty Kawarau River.

12.05 Disembark at Bannockburn and transfer to coach

Group arrives at Highlands Motorsport Park. Rotate through activities including Go Karting, Porsche “Taxi” laps, mini golf, race car simulator and Batak reaction simulator.

Optional add-ons: Laser clay target shooting or race car laps on the main track.

Transfer by coach to Mt Difficulty Wines for tastings and gourmet lunch.

Heli Tours pickup with 20 minute scenic flight and bubbles served during an alpine landing.

Full Day 2

The Wakatipu Collection Team Building Sample Two
Full day event for groups of 30 to 150 pax. Group splits for transfers, lunch and activities.

This is a full day of activities designed to motivate and challenge delegates, encouraging competition as well as teamwork. Participants will step out from their desks and comfort zones and into the starkly beautiful landscape of Kawarau Gorge.
The historic Goldfields Mining Centre is a 25 hectare site on the banks of the Kawarau River featuring antique relics of gold mining machinery, stables, bank and even a Chinese village. The rugged terrain and meandering pathways form the perfect backdrop for a day of team building.

Group rotates through the following activites, up to 50 pax per team:

 1) You vs Wild survival training with Peter Hitchman, Queenstown’s answer to Bear Grylls. An interactive adventure walk that focuses on teamwork. Delegates will learn techniques for surviving in the wild, such as navigation, lighting fires, safe food identification, foraging and how to keep warm. 2 hours duration.

 2) Motivational presentation by renowned New Zealand multi-sporter Steve Gurney. Steve describes his methods for achieving goals and shares inside stories from his wins, adventures, crashes and hospital visits. Delegates will learn from his tips to apply resilience and mental excellence to their everyday lives. 90 mins

 3) Skeet Shooting competition: delegates fire shotguns at moving clay targets. Winning delegate is the one who breaks the most clays throughout the competition. 60 mins

 4) Goldpanning. Delegates try their hand at fossicking for gold, and the winner is the one who finds the most. Note: winners keep what they find. Losers can buy consolation prizes in the adjacent shop. 30 mins

 5) Jet boating. An exhilarating ride with Goldfields Jet with spins and turns through the churning blue waters of the mighty Kawarau River. 40 mins.

 

 

Half-Day

Half day event for groups of 30 to 150 pax. Group splits for transfers and activities.

This is a half day of activities designed to motivate and challenge delegates, encouraging competition as well as teamwork. Participants will step out from their desks and comfort zones and into the starkly beautiful landscape of Kawarau Gorge.

Delegates depart conference venue. Half transfer to Queenstown Airport for flight with Heli Tours and half travel by road to Kawarau Gorge with Queenstown Transport.

2.00-2.30

Delegates arrive in stages at Goldfields Mining Centre, form into three teams of 50.

 

Group rotates through the following activites, 50 pax per team:

  • You vs Wild survival training with Peter Hitchman, Queenstown’s answer to Bear Grylls. An interactive adventure walk that focuses on teamwork. Delegates will learn techniques for surviving in the wild, such as navigation, lighting fires, safe food identification, foraging and how to keep warm. 2 hours duration.

Delegates arrive at Prime, alternate hot plated breakfasts:
Pancakes with bacon and maple syrup or

Delegates collected in 4WDs for visits to three sites featured in Lord of the Rings movies.

Half of group is met by Queenstown Transport for transfer to Goldfields Mining Centre, half transfers to airstrip for helicopter flight to Goldfields Mining Centre.

Group assembles at Goldfields for lunch catered by Wild Earth Wines featuring local game and produce cooked in wine barrels. Option to have Lord of the Rings/Hobbit actors for interaction with delegates.

Group splits into four and rotates through activities:

  • Pack-rafting down the Kawarau River - delegates inflate own rafts.
  • Jetboat up the Kawarau River back to Goldfields
  • Gold panning and escorted walk around old mining relics including display of working sluice guns
  • You vs Wild survival training with Pete Hitchman, New Zealand’s answer to Bear Grylls.                           
  • Claybird shooting at moving clay targets or laser clays.  

5pm

Half of group returns by road to Queenstown and the other half fly back by Helicopter with Heli Tours.
